You should be familiar with various SEO methods like meta tags and meta data. You know inserting meta data in your blog can completely change your blog view in search engine. Meta Data can also help you in increasing your blogs rank in search engines. Actually Meta Tags are used to determine how search engine will view your blog. If you will use Meta Data in a proper way than it can create rich snippets in search engines. Today, we are going to discuss about Schema Microdata and how to implement Schema Tags in Blogger blog. It can be very difficult for you to add Schema Data in your Blog if you don't know anything about Meta Tags and HTML. I will try to make it as simple as possible. Blogger is a popular blogging platform. Millions of users use this platform to post their views and opinions. But something I didn't like about Blogger is that it is not optimized for Search Engines. If you will not use proper SEO steps in your Blog than it can be very difficult for you to get good rank in search engines. Yes, there are many ways of optimizing your Blog for search engines and you can use each and every SEO technique in your Blogger blog. We were discussing about Schema.org Meta Data. It is a microdata which is inserted in Blogs, Websites etc. to create rich snippets in search results. It can completely change your Blog results in search engine. Before proceeding you should know that it is not a Meta Tag and it is completely different from it. It is used by major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing to sort content of whole Internet. Search engines can't identify your contents automatically if you will not sort your Blog content properly. And Schema plays important role in sorting out your content in posts. Since Schema Tags is supported in most search engines and is already in use to understand the content of Websites and Blogs. It can be used to tell the date of posting of your blog, who is the author of this blog, can be used for content rating, review details etc. to search engines. Most users like rich snippets in search engines as it explains the whole content of your blog and posts. Now we will know how to add Schema Microdata in Blogger blog.

How to Add Schema Microdata to Blogger Blog

Before we proceed to the post further I will suggest you to make a Backup of your Blogger Template. It will really help you in case if your template get destroyed. After making Backup follow the steps given below.
  • First of all sign in to your Blogger Account if you haven't signed in to your account until now.
  • After signing in Click on the blog title on which you want to add Schema Data.
  • Now go to Template from the Dashboard. In the Template page click on the Edit HTML which is located just below the live preview of your Blog.
  • In the HTML page of your Blogger Template search for the code given below.
Tip: To search Press anywhere in your Blogger Template and than Press CTRL+F. This will open the search box. Now write the specified code in the search box and hit enter button.

After searching for the above code you will find few lines of codes that will look something like the code given below. Just see the code given below.

If you don't understand until now than see the image given below. It may look different depending on your Blogger Template.

How to Add Schema.org Microdata to Blogger Blog

Now you have to add a Schema code just after id='Blog1'. Now add the Schema code give below just after id='Blog1'.
itemscope='' itemtype='http://schema.org/BlogPosting'
After adding the code properly in the specified place than your code will look like the code given below.
<b:widget id='Blog1' itemscope='' itemtype='http://schema.org/BlogPosting' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'>
Great! You are going well. It's time to apply or sort content of your Blog with Schema microdata. Now search for the code given below in your Blogger Template.
post-title entry-title
After searching you will find the code that will look just like the code given below.
<h2 class='post-title entry-title'>
The tag h2 can vary from h1, h2, h3 etc. depending on the heading tag used in your Blogger Template. See the image given below to see the code that you were searching for and to get some idea where it is in your Blogger Template.

How to Add Schema.org Microdata to Blogger Blog

Now add the code given below just after class='post-title entry-title'.
itemprop='name'
After adding the above code the code in your Blogger Template will look somewhat like the code which is given below.
 <h2 class='post-title entry-title' itemprop='name'>
You have just added a Schema Microdata in your Blog. If you don't want to add another Schema Tag in your Blogger Template than quickly Preview and Save your Blogger Template. You know you can also use Schema in the date of publish of your Blog post. To add the Schema Data for date than follow the steps given below.
  • Search for the code given below.
<b:if cond='data:post.dateHeader'>
After searching the above code you will see code that will look something like the code given below. Just see the code given below.
 <b:if cond='data:post.dateHeader'>
          <h2 class='date-header'><span><data:post.dateHeader/></span></h2>
        </b:if>
 See <span> tag in the above code. You have to add the code given below inside the span tag. Don't Worry I will tell you how to do it.

After adding the above Schema data inside span tag the span tag will look like like below.

That's All. Preview your Template for errors and than save your Template. If you want to add Schema Microdata inside Blogger post than add Schema Tags with the help of Blogger Post Editor. Switch to HTML mode and wrap the texts under span tag. Let's say you want to add Schema Description than just wrap the description that you want to sort for search engines under span tag as below.

</span>

    1. Schema.org tags help search engines to understand contents of site or blog. Let's say you have published a post on the movie Avatar which is directed by James Cameron. If the post doesn't contains Schema Tag than search engine may not understand that the post is discussing about the movie but if the Schema codes is used on that post in a proper way than Search Engine will get an idea that the post deals about the movie "Avatar" which is directed by James Cameron. You can also get rich snippet in search engine like review date, published by etc.
