How to Install Media Center on Windows 10

Microsoft introduced many new and interesting features on it's latest operating system, and seeing the agitation of users towards Windows 10, I can says many users like it. But not all are happy with the changes and removal of few features. For example- Windows Photo Viewer is replaced by modern Photos app. For Media Center users, there is a new DVD player. But many users aren't happy with the new DVD player as it isn't as good as Windows Media Center.

Users at My Digital life forums have come up with a way to install Media Center on Windows 10. It is tested to work on build 10240 and 10532. Now follow the following steps to get it working on your PC.

Note: You're going to download files from unofficial sources created by MDL forums users, and therefore proceed with caution. Make sure to create a backup or restore point.

First, go to this link and download the ZIP file.

Note: You can find the same file in the MDL forums. But you have to login or create an new account (if you don't have one) to download the files. You'll not need to register or login for downloading from the above link.

Next, extract the ZIP file. You'll see following files after extracting it.

Right click on the _TestRights.cmd file and select Run as administrator from the context menu. If another Command Prompt window appears then you're good to go otherwise restart your PC and try to run this file as administrator again.

If there is still a Command Prompt window open, right click on the Installer.cmd file and select Run as administrator.

It'll take a while to install required files. If finished, click any key to exit the command window.

Done!

Like other installer, it'll not give you any prompt to open the application. You can open the app by following the few easy steps mentioned below.

Click on the Start button and navigate to All apps > Windows Accessories > Media Center.

Or with a quick search in the Cortana will take you to the app.
